Over the past four years, Joël Eberle has played a central role at Swiss Interim Management (SIM), connecting top talent with companies—a task requiring both strategic acumen and a deft touch. With an impressive master’s degree from Australia and a parallel career at SIM, he has proven that challenges only make him stronger.
As he prepares to leave his position at Swiss Interim Management, we sat down for an interview where he reflects on his experiences, challenges, and future plans.
How were your four years at Swiss Interim Management, Joël?
Joël Eberle: The past four years at Swiss Interim Management have been both exciting and educational. What really stood out to me was the flexibility and the ability to work from anywhere. I had the chance to support various departments, which gave me a broad understanding of the company. I will definitely miss that flexibility and variety.
What did you enjoy most about your work?
Joël Eberle: It was definitely the variety. I got to work in different areas, whether it was accounting, supporting the consultants, or marketing. Each task brought new challenges, which I really enjoyed. I’m particularly proud of being able to balance my studies in Australia with my work at Swiss Interim Management. This combination was challenging but also very rewarding.
How was your study experience in Australia?
Joël Eberle: Studying on the Gold Coast in Australia was a transformative and exciting time. It broadened my horizons both academically and personally. What surprised me most was how practical the courses were, with tools like Excel being heavily used in every module. This not only enhanced my academic understanding but also significantly improved my practical skills. Life on campus was also unique. There was a very positive atmosphere, and I made valuable connections that I still maintain today.
Australia offers an incredible quality of life, which made me fall in love with the country. Additionally, the opportunity to not just visit but live there for two years was an extraordinary adventure.
How do you see the future of interim management?
Joël Eberle: I believe that interim management will play an increasingly important role in the business world. In a time when companies need to adapt quickly to changes, interim managers provide a flexible and efficient solution. They bring specialized expertise and can be deployed on short notice, giving companies the agility they need to respond to market changes. With the ongoing digitalization and rising demands on businesses, the need for highly qualified interim managers will certainly continue to grow.
What excites you about your new position?
Joël Eberle: I’m looking forward to further developing my expertise in accounting and finance. At one of the leading consulting firms, part of the "Big 4," I see the best opportunities to deepen my knowledge and advance my career.
How was your experience working with the co-CEOs and the team at Swiss Interim Management?
Joël Eberle: Our co-CEOs really impressed me. They are exceptional leaders and strong advocates for teamwork, driving the company forward. Their leadership reflects the principles of great leaders: they are less managers and more coaches and mentors. They inspire and motivate their employees, helping everyone reach their full potential.
The whole team at Swiss Interim Management is outstanding. Our collaboration was always marked by mutual respect, helpfulness, and a strong sense of community. Each team member brought unique skills and perspectives, and it was a pleasure to work in such a supportive environment. This combination of inspiring leadership and a dedicated team has been key to our collective success.
What do you take away from this experience for your future?
Joël Eberle: I am incredibly proud of being able to balance work and study from abroad, across different time zones. This has been the best time of my life, and I am endlessly grateful for the support I received. None of this would have been possible without SIM, and for that, I am truly thankful.
