The challenge
Axpo Holding AG was looking for an interim head of HR Operations for Axpo Services in Switzerland. The position involved the technical management and leadership of the Services department, including payroll and time management, with the team. Additionally, a coordinated handover to the new position holder was to be ensured. One of the major challenges was that the HR organization was in the midst of digital transformation. This process needed to be driven forward, while the operational business of several different companies within the group had to continue smoothly.
Due to the changes in the transformation process, the interim manager had to promote the team's motivation. Furthermore, it was necessary to sensitize the team to improvements and innovations.

The solution
As interim leader for HR Operations, our interim manager Roland Kienzler successfully implemented various tasks and objectives in a very short time and played a major role in ensuring that the digital transformation could be smoothly implemented simultaneously with the high operational requirements. He also worked on the design and standardization of regulations and processes and managed the annual financial statements, including complex audits. His greatest milestone was the development of a new HR Target Operating Model (TOM) and a Service Delivery Model (SDM), including their digital implementation. Furthermore, he took over all payroll tasks and expanded the team.
The results
By March 1, 2023, the new Target Operating Model (TOM ) was completed, and by April 1, 2023, everything was ready for the implementation of the Service Delivery Model (SDM). A new team lead for payroll was also hired. Roland handed over his tasks to the new position holder, with a clear overview of roles and tasks, showcasing the efficiency improvements in the updated processes, and ensuring the team was primed for upcoming challenges.
