The challenge

The company was looking for an interim head of HR Operations for its Swiss service operations. The role required functional leadership of the HR Services department, including payroll and time management.

At the same time, a structured handover to the new permanent hire had to be ensured. The biggest challenge: the HR organisation was in the middle of a digital transformation while the day-to-day operations of several group companies had to continue running smoothly. The interim manager was also required to actively maintain team motivation throughout the change process.

The solution

Our interim manager successfully delivered on multiple objectives in a short timeframe, making a decisive contribution to the smooth implementation of the digital transformation alongside ongoing operations.

 

He worked on standardising policies and processes, managed year-end activities including complex audits, and developed a new HR Target Operating Model (TOM) as well as a Service Delivery Model (SDM). In addition, he took on all payroll responsibilities, expanded the team, and supported the HR leadership team through a series of team coaching sessions.

The results
 

The new TOM was completed on schedule and the SDM was ready for implementation as planned. A new Team Lead Payroll was hired. The handover to the new permanent hire was carried out in a structured manner — with a clear overview of roles and responsibilities, documented efficiency gains, and a team ready for the next steps.
