I recently had the opportunity to experience an introduction to biathlon with my cross-country skiing school—led by former top athlete Benjamin Weger. Biathlon, the combination of cross-country skiing and shooting, demands not only physical fitness but also extreme focus under pressure. 

As I got familiar with the techniques, I quickly realized that this sport is not just a physical challenge—it teaches principles that directly apply to the business world. In interim management, in particular, the parallels are striking: precision, resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning. 

1. Precision Under Pressure: The Art of Making the Right Decision 

One of the greatest challenges in biathlon is switching between two completely different demands: maximum physical exertion on the ski course and absolute calm while shooting. If you can’t control your heart rate or let distractions get to you, you miss the target. 

The same applies to business—especially in interim management. Companies often operate under immense pressure due to market shifts, economic crises, or internal restructuring. One of the most inspiring moments of my biathlon experience was the diversity of our training group. Alongside younger participants, there were several over 75 years old—fully engaged and giving it their all! 

This left a deep impression on me. Learning and personal growth never stop. Those who embrace new challenges stay sharp—physically and mentally, in sports and in business.
